ABOUT FEDCOT INDIA

We FEDCOT INDIA Federation of Consumer Organisation is a Non Governmental organization that is voluntary non-profitable, non-political, civic minded, secular and registered (society act) association/ federation of voluntary organizations working for the promotion and development of consumers’ interest and their welfare. It is the umbrella body of 450 registered consumer associations in Tamil Nadu. It is one of the biggest consumer organizations working at grass root level covering people with different walks of life. It was founded in the state of Tamilnadu in 1994 and later expanded its function in the National level FEDCOT INDIA is a consumer movement of the people, by the people and for the people it is concerned with the value of the people. FEDCOT INDIA is a unique movement in the sense that it is both an organization and a movement. High sprit of voluntarism present in FEDCOT INDIA, with the view decentralize power and to encourage wider participation of talented people in the running of the Federation various directorates have been created with independent charge. FEDCOT INDIA has carefully cultivated a working relationship with many NGO net-workings in India and Abroad. FEDCOT INDIA in collaboration with UNICEF, conducted Street Food Vending Survey in three major Districts and Iodine Awareness campaign through Tamil Nadu respectively. From 1994 a number of training programmes ranging from consumer awareness programmes to highly Specialised workshops, have been organised to built-up astrong base of informed consumer activists.
